Attention, Affected Residents of Shades Subdivision (Fairbanks St, Windsor Ave, Hobart St, Fernwood Ave):
NIPSCO Gas has their sub-contractor (Meade) scheduled to start relocation work of the gas mains and services on or after Monday June 30th, 2025 to move gas utility lines out of conflict for the Town’s Stormwater and Roadway Improvement Project starting later this summer. This work will take about a month and a half and is scheduled to be completed by approximately August 19th, 2025. Then the Town’s Contractor (Milestone) and their sub-contractor (Ziese & Sons) will be onsite thereafter for the rest of the year working on the stormwater and roadway improvements similar to the neighboring Shades Subdivisions streets. There will be another resident notice distributed after NIPSCO’s work has been completed with any project updates for the next phase of work.
Crews will have working hours from 7 AM to 5 PM Monday to Friday with some Saturday work possible. Please plan accordingly to not park cars or leave items within the street right of way vicinity and limit access in and out of your homes as much as possible during construction hours so that the contractors can complete their work in a safe and timely fashion and the residents have a safe surface to travel on. Access to roads will be available outside of working hours. We know this is going to cause an inconvenience and we appreciate your patience and cooperation as the improvements are made. If you have a scheduled time in the near future where you will absolutely need access to your home or if you have any questions relating to this project, please contact Matt Scarsella (Construction Engineer) w/ Christopher B. Burke Engineering who will be running this project in the field with all of the contractors on behalf of the Town of Cedar Lake. His contact information is below.
Thank you.
