Help Shape the Future of Cedar Lake

Have you ever wondered how decisions are made about new housing, roads, parks, or businesses in our community?

A Comprehensive Plan is a long-term guide that helps a community decide how it wants to grow and develop over the next 10–30 years. It reflects the community’s shared vision for the future and sets goals for things like land use, housing, transportation, economic development, public services, and protecting natural resources.

Most importantly, a comprehensive plan is shaped by community input. Residents, businesses, and local organizations help identify priorities, challenges, and opportunities so future decisions reflect local values.

While the plan itself is not a law, it helps guide policies, zoning decisions, and investments—making sure growth is thoughtful, coordinated, and beneficial for everyone.

A comprehensive plan is about planning ahead, strengthening our community, and creating a future we can all be proud of.

If you would like to serve on the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee, please contact the Town Manager at beldridge@cedarlakein.org. The Cedar Lake Town Council will choose the committee from the list of interested individuals.

The Steering Committee will meet 3–4 times over a six-month period. The first meeting will be held in person, with remaining meetings available to attend virtually.

We encourage everyone to learn more, ask questions, and get involved!
