VIPS – Volunteers In Police Service
The Cedar Lake VIPS (Volunteers In Police Service) unit provides support and resources to the Cedar Lake Police Department by utilizing citizens who wish to volunteer their time and skills to serve their community. The program’s ultimate goal is to enhance the capacity of the Cedar Lake Police Department by utilizing volunteers to assist with tasks such as:
- Traffic Control
- Business and Residential Patrol
- Community Policing
- Operating the Police Department’s Emergency Shelter Trailer
The VIPS members serve as extra “Eyes and Ears” for the police department and assist it with combating criminal activity.
Application Instructions
If you are interested in becoming a Cedar Lake VIPS Member, click the link below and complete the application. Once completed, please bring it to the Cedar Lake Police Department Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
