Golf Carts
The operation of Golf Carts on public streets, roads, and alleys is permitted under the Town Code.
Below is a brief summary of these regulations. For detailed information, please review the Town Code regarding Regulations and Restrictions.
- Under Indiana law, only a licensed driver may operate a golf cart on public streets, roads, and alleys.
- Golf Carts operated on public streets, roads, and alleys must be registered with the Town of Cedar Lake and display a valid registration sticker.
- Registration forms can be found on the Town Forms page. Completed Registration Forms must be submitted to the Police Department along with your registration fee of $10.00 and proof of insurance. You will then be provided with a registration sticker.
- Proof of insurance is required upon registration and must be kept in the golf cart during operation.
- A “Slow Moving Vehicle Emblem” and/or a red or amber flashing light must always be displayed.
- Golf Carts operated after dusk and before dawn must be equipped with headlights, taillights, and turn signals.
