Fire Department

The Cedar Lake Fire Department provides Fire, EMS, and Rescue services for the Town of Cedar Lake and other locations in Center and Hanover Townships.
The Cedar Lake Fire Department (CLFD) was established in 1945, with C.O. Rattray serving as its first treasurer. Initially, as a volunteer organization, the department evolved into a combination department. These personnel respond to approximately 2,000 calls annually, providing fire, rescue, and advanced life support (ALS) emergency medical services across 50 square miles, including the Town of Cedar Lake and unincorporated Hanover Township.
In 1945, CLFD was among the founding members of the Indiana Volunteer Firemen’s Association (IVFA), an organization promoting unity among volunteer fire departments throughout Indiana. Over the decades, the department has expanded its services and capabilities, reflecting the growth and development of the Cedar Lake community.
