Job Summary:

The Town of Cedar Lake is seeking a reliable and organized Administrative Assistant to support the Parks & Recreation Department. This position provides clerical, administrative, and customer service support while assisting with daily office operations, program registrations, records management, and financial processing.

Compensation:

  • Maximum hourly rate: $22.81
  • Rate will be commensurate with education and experience
  • Benefits include:

Desired Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Administrative or clerical experience preferred
  • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with standard office software and computer systems

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors and assist callers with Parks & Recreation inquiries
  • Provide customer service and assist with program registrations
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, flyers, and departmental records
  • Maintain filing systems and manage incoming and outgoing mail
  • Perform data entry and assist with office computer systems
  • Process claims, invoices, and assist with bookkeeping tasks
  • Order supplies and maintain departmental inventory
  • Assist with special events and Parks & Recreation programs
  • Attend Park Board or civic meetings and support Town-sponsored events and programs

Selection Guidelines

Candidates will be evaluated based on a formal application rating of education and experience, an oral interview, and reference checks. Related tests may also be required.
