    Compensation:           

    Experienced lateral transfers have the opportunity to be moved into First Class Patrolman pay after 6 months: Probationary Salary: $65,000; Patrolman Salary: $73,132.80; 1st Class Patrolman: $75,129.60. A comprehensive benefit package that includes health insurance with medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, and participation in the Indiana Public Retirement System Police Pension Fund, as well as vacation (80 hours after 1 year; 120 after 5 years; 200 after 20 years), 13 personal days, 240 accumulative sick hours, longevity pay, uniform allowance ($1500/year), on-duty workout/gym allowance, 12-hour shifts and take-home vehicle.     Job Summary:

    The Patrolman is responsible for maintaining civil peace, enforcing laws and ordinances, protecting life and property, and assisting citizens as needed. 

    Eligibility Requirements:

    1. You must be a graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy at the time you are appointed
    2. You must be a current member of Indiana PERF or the ability to be in PERF
    3. You must not have had any convictions for:
      • Felonies
      • Domestic Violence
    4. You must be a resident of Indiana
    5. You must have a valid Indiana driver’s license
    6. Must possess an Honorable Discharge from the United States Military, if applicable.

    Compensation:           

    This position has a maximum bi-weekly salary of $3,076.92. The rate for this position will be commensurate with education and experience.     Job Summary:

    The Parks & Recreation Superintendent provides leadership, direction, and administrative oversight to the Parks and Recreation Department and its employees. The Superintendent is responsible for the development, maintenance, and operation of the town park system grounds and structures, preservation of open spaces and scenic environments, and the provision of activities and services to citizens of all ages. Work involves significant community engagement and public involvement with the Town Park Board, Elected Officials, appointed officials, and citizens. Serving as a member of the Town’s senior management team, the Superintendent collaborates with the Town Manager and other department heads as well as local organizations to promote park and recreation events and initiatives.  

    Desired Minimum Qualifications:

    1. High school diploma or GED
    2. Bachelor’s degree in parks, recreation and leisure services, or related field
    3. Four to six years of related experience and/or training in parks and recreation programs; or equivalent combination of education and experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    1. Professional certification through the National Recreation and Park Association, Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) or Certified Parks and Recreation Executive (CPRE)
    2. Member of the Indiana Parks and Recreation Association or the ability to become one

    Job Summary:

    The Public Works Crew Worker is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of town streets, sidewalks, and related facilities. This position is responsible for duties including but not limited to patching potholes, snow plowing, loading and unloading of stone, gravel, dirt, asphalt, timber, and heavy mechanical equipment. Assists in semi-skilled work by handling tools, carrying, lifting, or cleaning trash, debris, brush, and other duties as required.

    Desired Minimum Qualifications:

    Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

    • High school diploma or GED
    • Must possess a valid Indiana driver’s license, with CDL B

    Skills & Knowledge:

    • Knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in general maintenance
    • Knowledge of and ability to apply Town policies and procedures
    • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising good judgement
    • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal with all levels of staff, departments, and the general public
    • Ability to perform strenuous physical work as well as work outdoors in all weather conditions
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
    • Knowledge of modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment
