Cedar Lake Redevelopment Commission Public Meeting Minutes

Call To Order:

Mr. Thiel called the meeting of the Redevelopment Commission to order on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 6:32 pm, with its members attending on-site. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all.

Roll Call:

Members Present Via Zoom: Chuck Becker, Vice President

Members Present: Robert H. Carnahan; Nick Recupito; Greg Parker; Mary Joan Dickson; Rich Thiel, President. A quorum was attained.

Also present: Jennifer Sandberg, Clerk-Treasurer; Ben Eldridge, Town Manager; Cheryl Hajduk, Recording Secretary

Absent: Julie Rivera; Tracy Haskell, HCSC Liaison; TCSC Liaison; David Warne, CPCSC Liaison; David Austgen, Town Attorney

Consent Agenda:

1. Approval of January 6, 2026, Meeting Minutes and Claims Fund #804-$61,460.39 and Fund #404-$1,713.90.

A motion was made by Mr. Recupito and seconded by Mr. Parker to approve the minutes January 6, 2026, Meeting Minutes and Claims Fund #804-$61,460.39 and Fund #404-$1,713.90. Motion passed unanimously by roll-call vote:

Discussion Item:

1. Evaluate potential nominees for the “Explore Everyday” Award scheduled for presentation in April 2026.

The commission agreed to finalize the nominee for the Explore Every Day Award at the next meeting, targeting the award presentation in April 2026.

School Board Liaison Comments:

Mr. Carnahan shared:

• A report was shared on the MacArthur Elementary School’s fundraiser, Raise Craze, which aims to raise $16,000 by February 13, 2026, up from last year’s $13,000 goal.
• As of the meeting, $7,626 had been raised since the campaign began on January 23, 2026.
• This fundraising progress shows strong community support and momentum toward exceeding last year’s total.
• The update serves to inform council members of local educational initiatives and their fundraising health.

Written Communications:

Mr. Thiel commented that Ms. Bazin is no longer the school liaison for Crown Point and Mr. David Warne is now the school’s liaison.
